Ryan Holt
Ryan is a Lowestoft teenager who now attends Lowestoft Sixth Form and is a budding young entrepreneur within Waveney. He has setup his own design agency ‘Emagma Design & Print’ in late 2007, as well as being close to reaching the final top ten in Sir Alan’s search for a Junior Apprentice and also not forgetting being a finalist in The Lowestoft Journal’s awards for Entrepreneur of the Year.
Ryan is able to see opportunity and spot weather it’s a money making one or not, as well as being innovative and creative in supporting local businesses, communities and teenagers themselves.
Aspiration to succeed at just eight, Ryan started up his own school magazine at primary school which has lead him to be interested in journalism and design besides writing a column for The Lowestoft Journal.
His visions are big, but his aims are wise in which to achieve his goals. Ryan, just 16 also offers his time to many charitable organisations to make awareness of the work they do and how important it is to support them. His company recently created a new brand identity for 'Corton Football Club', which saw the launch of in September 2010.
From being an active Lowestoft teenager, Ryan understands the majority of views of teenagers that he has worked with and also being an active part in voicing the concerns of others within the district as his role as Chairman of Waveney Youth Council.
Ryan lives just outside the town in Corton, where he also runs part of the village magazine and also organises Corton’s Carnival & Fete.
His idol is Peter Jones & Richard Branson because their stories are similar to Ryan’s and he believes in everything they say in terms of being successful in business, which is the ‘Just do it’ attitude.
The reason Ryan has setup the event ‘My Grand Idea’ is because from his experience with working with young people they have great ideas, but just not sure what’s the next step or they want some good advice.
In 2010, Ryan secured a £5,000 grant from Suffolk Youth Opportunity Fund to setup a youth theatre company and he has just been part of a bid for £15,000 which he also got from Media Box to create a film about issues affecting young people. However in November 2009, Ryan won the Enterprise UK - East of England Award for Entrepreneur of the Year.
